What is Rapid.Space re6st and how much does it cost?

re6st is a global hybrid, peer-to-peer, mesh network with latency optimisation based on babel protocol (RFC 6126). It can be used to interconnect LANs, cloud providers, CDNs and self-hosted with lower latency and less congestion. It is available worldwide including in China.

Rapid.Space re6st provides a global hybrid, peer-to-peer, mesh network with latency optimisation based on babel protocol (RFC 6126). Every re6st node is assigned a full /64 public IPv6 address range that can be shared with neighbouring device on the same local area network (LAN).

Thanks to re6st, all computers or servers which share the same IPv6 prefix can communicate each other across the world and circumvent all sorts of congestions and latency issues that exist nowadays on Internet.

Thanks to re6st, all computers or servers receive a public IPv6 range which can be used to communicate to and from other IPv6 prefixes.

What is Rapid.Space re6st used for?

Rapid.Space re6st can be used to:

  • interconnect different cloud providers with lower latency and reduced congestion;
  • interconnect all local area networks (LAN) of a company with low latency and reduced congestion;
  • interconnect cloud providers and CDN with low latency and reduced congestion;
  • run a self-hosted server at home and access remotely through a CDN.

What are the different types of Rapid.Space re6st services?

There are three types of re6st services:

  • re6st Free: shared IPv6 range with no warranty;
  • re6st Production: shared IPv6 range with SLA;
  • re6st Dedicated: dedicated IPv6 range with SLA.

re6st Free provides a free IPv6 address range on a shared IPv6 prefix but no warranty in terms of performance or availability. Users of re6st Free must follow operation guidelines or may be revoked without notice. In particular, users of re6st Free must reconfirm each token monthly. re6st Free is intended for hobbyists, education, developers and non critical self-hosted applications.

re6st Production provides an IPv6 address range on a shared IPv6 prefix with warranties in terms of performance or availability. Users of re6st Production who do not follow operation guidelines will be notified individually and given short notice before being revoked. re6st Production is intended for developers, corporations and critical applications.

re6st Dedicated provides an IPv6 address range on a dedicated IPv6 prefix and a dedicated management platform with warranties in terms of performance or availability. Users of re6st Dedicated who do not follow operation guidelines will be notified based on custom workflow and given configurable notice before being revoked. re6st Dedicated is intended for developers, corporations and critical applications which require either a dedicated IPv6 range, a dedicated IPv4 range, tunnel encryption, guaranteed bandwidth, custom revocation workflow, etc.

Is Rapid.Space re6st available in China?

re6st service is available in China under the name Grandenet with official license (中华人民共和国增值电信业务经营许可证:沪A1-20140091)..

re6st service is intended to be used in China as a reliable way to deliver applications over the Internet, also known as, Application Delivery Network (ADN). It provides a solution to congestion problems that happen very often on China's Internet and are further described in the article "China Internet: why is it unreliable and how to fix it?".

re6st service in China can also be used to interconnect the local areas network (LAN) of a company.

re6st service in China can also be used for self-hosting in China in conjunction with a CDN located in China. However, ICP license is mandatory for CDN application, and is thus not allowed under China's Law to foreign companies without legal presence in China or to foreigners without residence permit in China.

re6st service in China can not be used to circumvent congestion or blocked access to foreign cloud services such as Google, Facebook, Wikipedia, YouTube, etc.
